Rock Star!

I thought of this photo today and I wanted desperately to make it happen. It took a painful hour and a half experimenting and figuring out how to make the background bright, but I finally did it. My guitar got an amazing reflection and my arm got a green haze. A little photo-shop and I had me dream photo. Hope you like.

Photographing People with Hard Light

My Response

1. The side light lit up half the subject's face but made the subject look ugly. The half shadow and half light face were a big contrast that don’t work well together.

2. The flash didn’t exactly work for me most likely due to the sun and the angle I took it at.

3. The reflector didn’t work in the pictures because I had trouble holding it up. But when I experiment with it trying to get a good angle, I saw how the light was reflected on the subject.

4. At first my photos were very bright in the background, but then I lit up the subject with different exposure.

5. The different exposure plus a little bit of flash helped to light up the subject.

6. I don’t think the reflector worked well because I was too far away from the subject.

Composition Photo Shoot

All of these pictures were taken in the small and large quarry at Queen Elizabeth Park in Vancouver. Enjoy!

"Repetition" How many leaves are there?

"Unity and Harmony" in a waterfall (cluttered background works nicely)

 "Rule of Thirds"

 "Rule of Thirds"

 Where do these "Lines" lead

"Framed" by the bridge above and the rock below

"Warm and colorful" flowers with white in the back to keep it cool

"Tone"-bright curved leaves and fruit with the background blurred

"Texture"-brick wall leads your eyes to the bell like tree

Both flowers with simple background "balance" each other

Photo Shoot September 9, 2012

My mom and I biked to the dike along the Fraser River in Richmond and I took a few pictures. Lucky for me there was a shipwrecked boat there.
